Background An estimated 400,000 children are diagnosed with cancer around the world each year. Here in the United States, cancer remains the number one cause of "death by disease" among children according to the American Childhood Cancer Organization, Funding for the Fighting Cancer in Children Act will be fully offset. This legislation will transfer $30 million from the Office of the Director at the National Institutes of Health, and those funds will be directed to pediatric cancer research, awareness, and survivorship through the Public Health Service Act.
