Last year, Head Start and Early Head Start programs provided essential support and services for over 19,000 families in Arizona, said O'Halleran. This year, as we work to address COVID-19, we must honor tribal sovereignty and ensure Native Nations are empowered to make the right decisions for education in their individual communities. I am working to make sure Head Start programs have the funding they need to continue to serve struggling families and kids during this pandemic. A grant of $1,171,091 was awarded to the White Mountain Apache Tribe to support the development and expansion of the tribe's Head Start programs.
