The stretch of I-10 between Phoenix and Tucson is one of the most dangerous roadways in the country, and traffic congestion makes intrastate commerce costlier and personal travel more difficult, said O'Halleran. We have an obligation to protect Arizona motorists and visitors to our great state. After working with ADOT and other local stakeholders for the past 21 months, I am pleased to see they have come together to address this issue while respecting the sovereignty of the Gila River Indian Community. I am hopeful that this agreement will lead to a master plan that addresses the need for widening this main artery that connects our major metropolitan areas.
