The comprehensive water legislation improves our water infrastructure, strengthens America's competitive edge by investing in our ports, harbors, and waterways, increases federal coordination with tribal communities, and makes updated water, wastewater, and groundwater infrastructure more affordable. O'Halleran fought for the legislation to include language that prioritizes two flood control projects in Arizona's First Congressional District, expediting the Rio de Flag project in Flagstaff and authorizing important studies to begin the project in Tonto Creek in Gila County. Arizonans know that water is the lifeblood of the Southwest. Last night, I was proud to vote in favor of this bipartisan legislation that prioritizes the responsible use of, investment in, and conservation of our most precious resource, said Rep. O'Halleran. Much work is left to be done to secure safe, clean water for families across our state, combat our decades-long drought, and address the negative effects climate change has had on our communities. Text of the legislation is available, HERE. Arizona flood control projects are listed on page 152. Earlier this year, O'Halleran announced $21 million in Department of Transportation grants to construct a bridge over Tonto Creek, where three children died in flood waters last spring. Long an advocate for prioritization of the Rio de Flag project, O'Halleran secured $52 million in funding for the initiative through the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers this February. ### 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
