Pete Olson (TX-22) today applauded the president for acting to help deliver more cures, treatments, and therapies to patients and to bring our health care system into the 21st century. President Obama signed into law the 21st Century Cures Act, an important bipartisan initiative that will make needed reforms, and spur medical innovation that will make real differences in people’s lives. The bill was passed in the House by a bipartisan vote of 392-26 and the Senate by 94-5. “This law will lay the groundwork for making needed medical breakthroughs to provide hope for patients in dire need of new and effective treatments,” Rep. Pete Olson said. “I’m proud of the bipartisan effort to develop a bill that will spur innovation in our nation’s medical research industry, helping and giving hope to loved ones with debilitating or deadly diseases. This will give us the opportunity to invest in the research that will result in the technological advances that improve quality of life and deliver cures to patients and peace of mind for their families. I thank the president for signing this innovative bill into law.” ### Media Contact: Melissa Kelly 202-225-5954 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
