I want to recognize and encourage South Mississippi students who exhibit strong leadership qualities in their schools and communities, Palazzo stated. These students are the future of our state and our nation, and it is my hope that they will come away from this summit with the tools they need to continue serving their communities. Confirmed guest speakers include: Fred Haise, Apollo 13 astronaut Randy G. Pierce, Associate Justice of the Mississippi Supreme Court Hannah Roberts, 2013 Miss University of Southern Mississippi Sarah Thomas, candidate to become the National Football League's first woman to serve as a permanent official High schools throughout Mississippi's fourth congressional district will select juniors and seniors to participate based on academic performance, community service, and extracurricular activities, as well as the ability to overcome adversity. This year's Summit will also feature a college fair to connect students with local colleges and universities, with participation from The University of Southern Mississippi, William Carey University, Jones County Junior College, Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, and Pearl River Community College.
