https://palazzo.house.gov/news/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=398713 Palazzo Supports South Mississippi Jobs 2015-10-27 2015 2015-10 Republican House MS Steven Palazzo P000601 palazzo.house.gov     legacy Congressman Steven M. Palazzo (MS-04) today voted in favor of re-authorizing the Export-Import Bank. Congressman Palazzo stated: A vote for the Ex-Im bank is a vote for jobs in Mississippi. GE Aviation in Ellisville, Howard Industries in Laurel, Hol-mac in Gulfport, American Tank and Vessel in Lucedale these are small businesses and global companies alike right here in South Mississippi that rely on Ex-Im financing to remain competitive. I want these jobs in America, not overseas. Anyone who opposes the Ex-Im Bank is telling hardworking Mississippians that their jobs are no longer important. In a perfect world, we would not need the Ex-Im bank. But for America to remain competitive in the global marketplace, it is necessary. I refuse to allow China or Russia to take the mantle of world leadership from us because we play by the rules while they do not. Made in America is still the best brand there is, and the Ex-Im bank ensures this brand, our brand, is exported across the globe. Nate Beach, GE Aviation Ellisvilles plant manager agreed, noting: GE Aviation exports aircraft engines with Ellisvilles unique composite components to every region of the world. Without the Ex-Im Bank to back those deals, we sell fewer engines, endangering jobs and growth in our Ellisville plant. Without the Ex-Im Bank, GE Aviation must invest jobs and facilities in other countries instead of locations like our own here in Jones County. H.R. 597 reauthorizes the Export-Important Bank, a credit financing tool used by more than 60 developed nations to support exports. The Ex-Im bank supports 164,000 American jobs. 90% of Ex-Ims transactions directly support American small businesses. It has zero cost to the American taxpayer and returned $675 million to the Treasury last year. In comparison, Chinas export credit agencies annually finance more than the U.S., Canada, Germany, and the UK combined. Canada, whose economy is only 1/10th the size of the United States, financed three times as much in export transactions than the U.S. 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
