The federal funding comes from the American Rescue Plan that House Democrats passed and President Biden signed into law in 2021. The funds are distributed through the Department of Commerce's Economic Development Administration (EDA). The city will use the funding to repair roads and sewers to bolster economic development and construct three industrial redevelopment projects, including the construction of two warehouse distribution centers. It is estimated that the funding will create 390 jobs and generate $1.1 million in private investment. "I'm glad to see that South Amboy will receive $4.9 million from the American Rescue Plan to help the city rebuild its infrastructure and provide better services for residents. It's great to see the American Rescue Plan delivering for New Jersey and providing the federal funding our state needs to create jobs and make critical repairs to infrastructure," Pallone said.
