Pappas's video honoring New Hampshire veterans MANCHESTER, NH- Congressman Chris Pappas (NH-01), member of the House Committee on Veterans' Affairs and Chairman of the Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations, released the following statement to commemorate Veterans Day 2020 and honor New Hampshire veterans: While this Veterans Day looks much different than last year and years before, our thanks and gratitude for the service of American veterans is no less profound. I am the proud grandson of World War II veterans: both my grandfathers were pilots in the war, and my grandmother served in the Coast Guard. And I was raised hearing stories of their service and understanding that the freedoms we enjoy aren't guaranteed and are not to be taken for granted. Those who put on the uniform of this country and fight to defend our way of life deserve our unending respect and thanks. We made a promise to our veterans. And it's one that we reaffirm today and every day. It's a simple promise: if you stand up and defend our liberty and freedom, we must stand up and defend your access to health care and benefits that you've earned - so that you can live in health, dignity, and security. That's why I have been so proud to serve on the House Committee on Veterans Affairs. On that committee, I've worked in a bipartisan fashion to improve care for veterans, hold VA accountable, and ensure that when a veteran comes home, they don't have to face another battle to get the services they have earned.
