https://paulsen.house.gov/index.cfm?sectionid=22&itemid=2005 House Approves Sweeping Bipartisan Opioid Legislation 2018-09-29 2018 2018-09 Republican House MN Erik Paulsen P000594 paulsen.house.gov     legacy The U.S. House of Representatives today approved H.R. 6, the SUPPORT for Patients and Communities Act, sweeping bipartisan House-Senate legislation to combat the opioid epidemic. Congressman Erik Paulsen, a longtime leader in Congress in the fight against the opioid crisis, issued the following statement after passage: To Minnesota families and communities on the front lines of the opioid crisis: more help is on the way, said Paulsen following the bill's passage. It will help stop the flow of deadly synthetic drugs across our borders, establish new comprehensive opioid recovery centers and improve prescription drug monitoring programs. The end result will be less addiction, fewer overdoses, and safer Minnesota communities. The legislation includes Paulsen's Providing Reliable Options for Patients and Educational Resources Act,a bipartisan measure Paulsen authored alongside Rep. Ron Kind (D-Wis.). Seniors aren't immune from the opioid epidemic, and these measures will prevent addiction among seniors by educating them on alternative pain management treatments and the proper, safe disposal of prescription painkillers. It will help the more than 90,000 at-risk seniors from descending into a deadly spiral of addiction, Paulsen said. 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
