Our military is fundamental to preserving our nation's security and liberties. Congress has the important responsibility of providing the military with the resources and tools it needs to succeed. With passage of the Defense Appropriations bill today, Congress did exactly that. In this bill, Congress has allotted the money necessary to keep our troops safe, provide them with the training they need and deserve, support their families at home, and develop the next generation of weapons that will continue to defend our nation. Most importantly, these funds will provide care for our troops, military families, and veterans. Our state is home to 5 military installations and a number of research sites. We know firsthand the importance of fully funding the Department of Defense, providing our military certainty and the resources they need to bring the fight to the enemy.
