The Portland International Jetport and airports in Biddeford, Sanford, Rockland and Brunswick will be getting grant funding. "Improving and maintaining airport infrastructure contributes to the local economy by supporting the jobs necessary to get the work done and by making sure these small and mid-size airports have the capability they need to handle air traffic," Pingree said. Pingree, a member of the House Appropriations Committee, said the biggest grant will go to the Portland International Jetport. The Jetport will get a total of $484,0000 to buy new snow removal equipment to help keep the runways open during snowstorms. The Biddeford Municipal Airport will get $320,000 to replace an airport beacon and build a security fence. In Sanford, the FAA will invest $315,000 to replace a taxiway and plan for future projects. The new Brunswick Executive Airport (the former Brunswick Naval Air Station) is getting $150,000 to remove obstructions on a runway approach.
