"It's town meeting season in Maine and all over the states communities are struggling to balance their budgets and keep property taxes from rising," Pingree said. "This money will help towns that experienced unusual expenses after that massive blizzard hit thestate in February." The $1.5 million in emergency assistance from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will reimburse local governments and some non-profits for 75% of eligible costs. The aid, which was authorized by a federal disaster declaration, will be available in Androscoggin, Cumberland, Knox, Sagadahoc, Washington and York counties. | 1 | 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z | 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z |
