Brunswick is a great example of how a former military base can be redeveloped to create jobs and economic opportunity for a community. This is truly an investment that will pay off many times over, Pingree said. It's exciting to see this hangar renovated so it can support the growing aerospace industry in Maine. It helps create and preserve the good paying jobs that we need in our state. The approximately 50,000-square-foot building was previously used as a maintenance hangar at the naval base. Work under the grant includes installing new heating systems and ADA accessibility improvements.
