She released the following statement. This is a bad bill thats going to have a major negative impact on generations to come. The latest analysis from the Tax Policy Center shows just how bad: 86 million middle-class Americans will pay higher taxes and 83 percent of the benefits will go to the wealthiest 1 percent. Middle-class families who do see some benefit wont for long, because their cuts are temporary while the handouts to corporations will be permanent. Because the bill explodes the deficit, you can bet that it will lead to cuts to programs we all depend onlike Medicaid, Medicare, and Social Securitywhen Republicans come back next year and say theres no money. And in ending the individual mandate, millions more Americans will go uninsured, destabilizing the insurance market, bankrupting families with uncovered health costs, and driving up premiums for everyone who decides to keep their coverage. The Center for American Program estimates that in Maine it would lead to 50,000 more uninsured by 2025 and a $2,350 Marketplace premium increase by 2019. Its so clear that this bill is bad for the country and the people we represent.
