Congresswoman Stacey E. Plaskett (USVI), Ranking Member on the Subcommittee on the Interior, Energy, and Environment released the following statement regarding two grants from FEMA for the Territory of the U.S. Virgin Islands associated with Hurricane Irma:Today the U.S. Department 0f Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced two grants to the U.S. Virgin Islands to help with hurricane recovery efforts in the Virgin Islands. The first grant is for $4,674,727.47 to V.I. Territorial Emergency Management Agency/St. Thomas for Emergency Protective Measures as a result Hurricanes. The second grant provides $32,166,784.18 to the Virgin Islands Territorial Emergency Management Agency/St. Thomas for Emergency Protective Measures after Hurricane Irma. These two important grants will help the Virgin Islands tremendously with our ongoing rebuilding efforts making the Virgin Islands whole again after experiencing two devastating hurricanes.
