PLASKETT ANNOUNCES TWO FEMA GRANTS TOTALING $5 MILLION FOR GOVERNOR JUAN F. LUIS HOSPITAL 5/15/2020, May 15, 2020 For Immediate Release Contact: Michael J. McQuerry May 15, 2020 202-215-8524 CONGRESSWOMAN STACEY E. PLASKETT ANNOUNCES TWO FEMA GRANTS TOTALING $5 MILLION FOR GOVERNOR JUAN F. LUIS HOSPITAL Washington, D.C. Congresswoman Stacey E. Plaskett released the following statement regarding two important grants in the amount of $5 million for the Juan F. Luis Hospital from FEMA: Today, I am pleased to announce two grants from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). The first grant is for $4,635,041.09 in federal funding to Governor Juan F. Luis Hospital for Management Costs. Management Costs are any indirect costs and administrative expenses that are reasonably incurred by a Grantee or subgrantee in administering a grant or subgrant award. The second grant is for $1,146,492.00 in federal funding to Governor Juan F. Luis Hospital for Emergency Protective Measures. FEMA's Public Assistance Program funds eligible emergency protective measures taken by a community before, during, and after a disaster to eliminate or reduce an immediate threat to life, public health or safety or significant damage to improved public or private property. While the list of eligible activities includes actions that do not affect the environment (such as provision of food and water), there are several that do have the potential to adversely affect natural, historic, and/or archaeological resources. These important grants will benefit the Virgin Islands tremendously with our ongoing rebuilding efforts making the Virgin Islands whole again after experiencing two devastating hurricanes. The United States government and the international community has an obligation to work with the affected local governments to restore infrastructure, provide critical humanitarian assistance, and help recover and build back our islands. ### 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
