McQuerry September 2, 2020 202-215-8524 PRESSSTATEMENT CONGRESSWOMAN STACEY E. PLASKETT ANNOUNCES AN $8MILLION GRANTFROM THE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION AWARDED TO THE VIRGIN ISLANDS PORT AUTHORITY FOR AIRPORTS ON ST. CROIX AND ST. THOMAS Washington, D.C. Congresswoman Stacey E. Plaskett released the followingstatementannouncing that the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) has awarded an $8 Million dollar grant to the V.I. Port Authority for the Henry E. Rohlsen and Cyril E. King airports: I am happy to announce that DOT has awarded these funds to Virgin Islands Port Authority for both Virgin Islands' airports. This $8 Million grant will provide much needed funds to both airports to complete a number of critical projects, to include: reconstructing our runways, taxiways and commercial service aprons as well as upgrading our runway lighting. Additionally, this grant is funded by the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, Economic Security Act (CARES Act) of 2020 and increases the federal cost share for our airports to 100 percent. The availability of these funds, as well as the complete coverage provided by the federal cost share will go a long way in ensuring that we are able to improve and harden the infrastructure at both airports. These improvements will ensure that our airports are able to operate at a more efficient level for years to come. ### | 1 | 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z | 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z |
