McQuerry October 6, 2020 202-215-8524 PRESS STATEMENT CONGRESSWOMAN STACEY PLASKETT EXPRESSES HER CONCERN AND OFFERS HER SUPPORT TO THOSE AFFECTED BY THE FIRE IN FORT MYLNER St. Thomas, USVI Congresswoman Stacey Plaskett today expressed her concern and thoughts on the Fire at the Fort Mylner Shopping Center, thanking the Virgin Islands Fire Service, Firefighters, and First Responders who through their bold service to the people of the Virgin Islands continually keep us, our homes and properties safe. You are heroes each and every day! Yesterday's fire at the Fort Mylner Shopping Center in Tutu on St. Thomas caused great devastation for the proprietors of those businesses that were destroyed, stated Congresswoman Plaskett. The Center has been an important community landmark for decades. So many of us have enjoyed and patronized the businesses and essential service providers at Fort Mylner. I offer my thoughts, prayers, and support to all businesses damaged. My office stands ready to support how we can assist those businesses affected by the fire to make contact with the Small Business Administration (SBA) and other supporting organizations after the necessary assessments are completed. On behalf of my staff, myself and the entire community, we are here with you. ### 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
