PLASKETT ANNOUNCES $545,000 GRANT FOR THE VILLAGE VIRGIN ISLANDS PARTNERS IN RECOVERY Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Stacey E. Plaskett, a member of the House Ways and Means Committee, released the following statement after announcing a $545,000.00 grant for the Village Virgin Islands Partners in Recovery: “Today, I am pleased to announce a grant for $545,000.00 from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) for the Village Virgin Islands Partners in Recovery. The Village - Virgin Islands Partners In Recovery has been serving the residents of the U.S. Virgin Islands for over 15 years. Although predominantly based on the island of St. Croix, the program reaches out to the residents of St. Thomas, St. John, and other Caribbean neighbors. The Village-Virgin Islands became part of the WestCare family in 2003. The program is funded primarily by the U.S. Virgin Islands Department of Health and Human Services and the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). “The Village - Virgin Islands is located on the historic grounds of Sion Hill Farms, a sugar mill once operated by slave labor in the 1700's. The site provides a home to residential care for persons faced with the challenges of overcoming their addictions. The Village - Virgin Islands at Sion Hill hosts distinct programs especially tailored for adult males/females and a family program that includes mothers/fathers with their children. Individuals referred to the Village are taught the skills they need to return to family, friends and employment and to cope with life without a return to addiction. “The Village - Virgin Islands at Sion Hill offers the following services: Residential Substance Abuse Treatment Individual & Group Counseling Male/Female Specific Support Groups Relapse Prevention Education Substance Abuse Education & Prevention Educational/Vocational Counseling Family Education Parenting Skills and education Children's Services HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis prevention and education services Women's Aftercare Program “This grant will help increase services needed by hard-hit populations due to the pandemic.” ### 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-04-06T20:03:51Z
