Plaskett today congratulated the United States Virgin Islands Nike RBI 18U Girls Softball Team on winning the 2026 Nike RBI Softball 18U World Series, defeating Houston 3-1 in Thursday's championship game. "These young women did an outstanding job and came out triumphant as World Series Champions,” said Congresswoman Plaskett. "They represented our Territory against teams backed by Major League Baseball's biggest organizations, and they did it with the heart, discipline, and unity that define who we are. “I would like to extend a special thank you to Head Coach Elroy Hill and Assistant Coaches Richard Clendinen, Brock Creque, and Inocenia Bermudez, for their tireless work in training and mentoring our young women." The team, sponsored by the Department of Sports, Parks and Recreation, secured its berth in the World Series by winning the 2026 Nike RBI Softball 18U Caribbean Regionals on June 24. The USVI was one of eight teams competing, the only team representing a U.S. territory. ### 1 2026-08-15T05:23:20Z 2026-08-15T05:24:50Z
