Maines Second District Congressman, Bruce Poliquin, released the following statement: Since being sworn-in as Maines 2nd District Representative, I have been fighting to help strengthen, preserve and protect Social Security for our Maine seniors, like my parents, who depend on it. Thats why I supported a budget which preserves Social Security and protects it for future generations, like my son, who are beginning to contribute to this critical program. "I'm also concerned for our seniors who have worked in public service,as teachers, police officers,firefighters and community workers, who are being shorted their benefits due tocomplicatedand outdated Social Security formulas. That's why I supported a billthat will fullyrepeal the Windfall Elimination Provision, which is responsible for the reduction,and allow Maine seniors to finally receive the benefits they have worked hard for and earned. Social Security is an important program. As Maines 2nd District Representative, I will continue to support bills that will help strengthen, preserve and protect Social Security for our seniors and future generations.
