Maines Second District Congressman, Bruce Poliquin, released the following statement: I find it completely unacceptable the Department of Veterans Affairs has failed to hire more psychiatrists, and use those on staff efficiently, as demand for mental health care grows. This new report is especially concerning because an OIG report in July found that Togus was experiencing mental health staffing issues. Thats why I voted to increase VA funding, by 5.6 percent, in order to help fix these problems and ensure our Veterans get access to quality health care in a timely manner. Additionally, I supported a bill that will allow our Veterans to receive the health care they desperately need from non-VA affiliated providers.
