The National Defense Authorization Act, which the President vetoed during a photo-op, included a vital HUBZone amendment, which I helped draft, that would have brought more businesses and jobs to Maine. By adjusting the HUBZone requirements, this amendment would have helped the former Brunswick Naval Air Station recruit businesses to come on to the base and qualify for the HUBZone program. Its unfortunate that President Obama did not put our Troops, their families, our national security and jobs before politics. As Maines Second District Congressman, I will continue to promote my HUBZone language in order to help create more jobs and opportunities.
