(September 18, 2019) Today, Wednesday, September 18, 2019, Congressman David Price (D-NC), issued the following statement regarding the passing of political commentator, journalist, and historian, Cokie Roberts who passed away on Thursday, September 17, 2019: Lisa and I were saddened to learn of Cokie Roberts' death and express our condolences to her husband Steve and their family, said Congressman Price. We have known Cokie through her family's North Carolina and Congressional ties, as well as her work over many years as a uniquely well informed and insightful reporter and commentator on the Congress. Cokie's questions about our work could be penetrating and challenging, but she had a deep appreciation for the institutions of democracy and the values they seek to embody. In recent years, Cokie has focused powerfully on the role of women, often unsung, in building our nation. She was a warm, funny, and engaging person, whom we will greatly miss. ### | 1 | 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z | 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z |
