David Price (D-NC), a longtime proponent of two-state diplomacy to find a just and lasting solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, released a statement applauding House passage of H. Res. 326. Rep. Price worked closely with Rep. Alan Lowenthal (D-CA) and other colleagues to craft and advance this legislation: "This is an Article 1 moment, and I'm proud to be part of it. At a time when the President and his administration have sowed doubt about our nation's historic bipartisan commitment to a two-state solution, Congress, as a coequal branch of government, asserted itself today to reaffirm that two-state diplomacy is the only viable path to ensure Israel's future as a secure, democratic, and Jewish state and to fulfill the legitimate aspirations of the Palestinian people for self-determination, said Congressman David Price. Further, this resolution puts the House on the record in opposition to unilateral annexation of territory in the West Bank, which if pursued, would lead to extraordinary security, financial, and political challenges for both Israel and the Palestinians and could well foreclose the possibility of a Palestinian state. H.Res. 326 reiterates strong support for Israel's security and through the Price-Pocan amendment, insists that the United States must resume foreign assistance to the West Bank and Gaza, as duly appropriated by Congress. Congress must reinforce these commitments, as well as reestablish its role in preserving and protecting the basics of American diplomacy and its role in pursuing peace. Language drafted by Rep.
