I would have preferred a deal that provides more relief from the self-inflicted wounds of the sequester, which has slowed our economic growth, limited job creation and cut important investments in infrastructure, education and research. The lack of action to extend emergency long-term unemployment benefits is also a tremendous disappointment. But ultimately I recognize the need for compromise, and as an appropriator I am encouraged by the opportunity to finally return Congress to regular order in the budget process. Rep. Quigley serves on the House Committee on Appropriations, where he has made Chicago-area infrastructure investment a top priority as a member of the Subcommittee on Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies (THUD). He also serves on the Appropriations Subcommittee on Financial Services and General Government. ### 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
