We care about the hard working men and women that call our district home. That's why we are fighting so hard to achieve progress on the issues that matter most to them, said Reed. In the Corning and Elmira area, Reed cited the advancement of the FedEx facility in Nichols. The project is slated for groundbreaking in early 2017, following Reed's efforts cut government red tape, which threatened to derail the project. In early 2016, the project was on the verge of collapse after new bureaucratic regulations were issued from the Army Corp of Engineers and the Environmental Protection Agencies. The regulations would have greatly expanded government control over previously unregulated waterways, like agricultural irrigation systems and puddles of rain water, costing FedEx an additional $400,000 for compliance. Added costs would have caused the project to relocate. With Reed's assistance and cooperation from local government and economic development agencies, the project was able to move forward, saving a $12 million dollar investment in Tioga County and ensuring the creation of 75 jobs. This project was a great success thanks to many hard-working officials including Lee Ann Tinney, Director of Economic Development and Planning in Tioga County, the late Ray Case, Tioga County Legislator, Martha Sauerbrey, Chairwoman of the Tioga County Legislature and my colleague, House Transportation Committee Chairman Bill Shuster, who joined me in this effort." Reed continued. I am committed to this kind of team effort and know many more positive improvements will come to our region as a result." Additionally, Reed touted his offices commitment to accessibility as a major success. We want to make sure that if you have a concern, your voice is heard. We take those concerns to Washington and work every day to bring solutions to these issues. Since coming to office in 2010, Reed's office has completed over 10,000 constituent assistance cases, which help area residents resolve disputes or conflicts with the federal government. In addition, Reed has held over 200 town hall meetings since taking office in 2010.
