Tom Reed announced he sent a letter to Governor Cuomo raising concerns over the $1.7 billion in subsidies offered in exchange for Amazon locating their second headquarters in New York City. Tom highlighted how the Amazon deal disparaged hardworking New Yorkers struggling to keep their businesses open, and how existing New York businesses deserve priority over companies like Amazon. Just this month, New Era Cap announced they would shutter one of their plants and lay off 219 hardworking New York residents in order to relocate to Florida. Tom recommended requiring a three-fifths majority vote of the state legislature to approve any incentive package of the Amazon magnitude, and he offered his help to the Governor and the state legislature to implement lower taxes and a reasonable regulatory environment for existing businesses in New York State.
