Congressman Denver Riggleman (R-VA) announced today that Virginiawill benefit from $1.75 million in affordable housing funding from the Federal Home Loan Bank of Atlanta (FHLBank Atlanta), one of the 11 district banks in the Federal Home Loan Bank System. Community developers inthe 5th Districtwill partner with local FHLBank Atlanta member financial institutions to build 249 housing unites in Charlottesville, Ruckersville, and South Boston. Some of that funding will directly support housing opportunities in the 5th District. We are excited to partner with FHLBank Atlanta to create more affordable housing opportunities for our state, and specifically the 5th District, said Rep.Riggleman. Affordable Housing is a critical need for every state in FHLBank Atlanta's district, said Arthur L. Fleming, Senior Vice President and Director of Community Investment Services for FHLBank Atlanta. We are grateful to Representative Riggleman for his attention to this important issue, and we are proud our AHP funds will be used by our member financial institutions to assist the development, rental, or purchase of much-needed safe and affordable housing in Virginia." The four projects that will receive the funds are: Crescent Halls Charlottesville,VA Grant: $500,00 for 105 rental units Poplar Creek Homes South Boston, VA Grant: $250,00 for 32 rental units South First Street Phase One Charlottesville, VA Grant: $500,000 for 62 rental units Hawk's Landing Ruckersville, VA Grant: $500,000 for 50 rental units About the Federal Home Loan Bank of Atlanta: FHLBank Atlanta offers competitively-priced financing, community development grants, and other banking services to help member financial institutions make affordable home mortgages and provide economic development credit to neighborhoods and communities.
