Auburn. The Village will receive $430,000 in a low-interest loan and a grant of $251,000.This is great news for Mt. Auburn,said Davis.This grant is a great example of the kind of investments we have to make at the federal level to support ourrural communities and those they serve. This project will ensure safety and maintain water quality within the area. I appreciate the work all local officials did to apply for and obtain these grants. We are excited to receive these grant and loan funds from USDA Rural Development so that we can continue our efforts to bring safe, clean drinking water to the citizens of Mt. Auburn. We have dealt with less than ideal water quality over the last several years and these funds will be instrumental in assisting us to reach our goal to improve that quality. We were especially thrilled to learn that we would be receiving a portion of the requested funds as grant money that won't require repayment; as a small village with limited income, this grant assistance is greatly appreciated,said Village of Mt. Auburn Mayor Amber Dooley. These investments will bring reliable infrastructure to rural communities. They will replace old, fragile, leaking water pipes with new ones and allow upgrades to water handling systems that are decades old, boosting water pressure and cutting water losses. Working with our partners, these investments create jobs and improve public health and safety. Under the leadership of President Trump and Agriculture Secretary Perdue, USDA is committed to partnering with rural communities to help them improve their infrastructure, because when rural America thrives, all of America thrives,"said Deputy Under Secretary for Rural Development Donald "DJ" LaVoy. Background This Rural Development investment will replace a total of 24,810 lineal feet of old cast iron two and four inch water mains with six inch mains and one inch service lines along with fire hydrants, valve boxes, service meters, service lines, and other associated miscellaneous appurtenances. The construction will take place adjacent to existing water mains in the village right of way. The project will also allow the Village to restructure current debt service. This project will alleviate a current health hazard that exists due to the age of the system that has caused a number of line breaks that has lead to contamination from low water pressure within the system. | 1 | 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z | 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z |
