Today, Rep. Phil Roe, M.D. (R-TN) released the following statement on the government shutdown: No one wants to see the government shut down. On Thursday, I proudly supported legislation to continue funding the remaining government agencies, provide an additional $5 billion to construct a wall at our southern border and provide $7.8 billion in disaster relief. The president's request for funding for a wall on our southern border is entirely reasonable and necessary for our security. I hope the Senate and House Democrats will work in good faith to come together with the president and work out their differences as soon as possible so we can end this shutdown. Note: Currently the government is partially funded through Fiscal Year 2019. Funding has already been signed into law through September 30, 2019 for the following departments: Department of Defense, Department of Health and Human Services, Department of Education, Department of Labor, Department of Energy, Legislative Branch, and Department of Veterans Affairs. The remaining departments and agencies were funded by a continuing resolution which expired at midnight on December 21. f t # e | 1 | 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z | 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z |
