Phil Roe, M.D. (R-Tenn.), released the following statement after the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) announced the agency would award Community Development Block Grants (CDBG) totaling $1,346,753 to Bristol, Johnson City, Kingsport and Morristown to help communities provide support services to vulnerable populations: Ensuring all families have the support services they need during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic will help our local communities continue to protect their vulnerable populations. I am pleased the Trump administration is quickly directing a third round of the housing funds provided by the CARES Act to Northeast Tennessee. As our country continues fighting the COVID-19 pandemic, I'll continue doing everything in my power to ensure Northeast Tennessee has the resources to land on its feet. Note: Rep. Roe was present to support the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act when it passed the House by voice on March 27, 2020, and was signed into law by President Trump that same day. CDBGs provide financial resources to state and local governments to address their needs in the community.
