Chip Roy is pleased to announce the winner for the 2022 Congressional App Challenge (CAC) in Texas’ 21st Congressional District. There were multiple talented students that submitted their creations for consideration by our volunteer judges. The winning contestant is Ms. Sarah Horton of San Antonio and her game app Paddle. Ms. Horton attends Reagan High School in North East ISD. “I wanted something fun to do on my computer that wasn't going to suck me into spending hours watching videos that decreased my attention span, and didn't come with the dangers that all social media platforms have,” Ms. Horton said. Congressman Roy would like to extend thanks to the stellar individuals who volunteered as judges for the CAC: Dr. Brian Bernard, Mr. Rex Quick, and Dr. Ayankunle Taiwo of Schreiner University in Kerrville, and Dr. Sami Mian. Their experience in the tech industry was invaluable in scoring the apps for determination of the winner for TX-21. About CAC: Students from across America are provided this opportunity by the United States House of Representatives. The goal is to encourage students to pursue STEM activities such as coding. Each challenge is district-specific. As U.S. Representatives we publicly recognize our winning teams and each winning app may be put on display in the U.S. Capitol Building for one year.
