It is extremely encouraging that both the Colombian government and the FARC have indicated that they will continue to work to achieve that goal. “I had the great privilege of traveling to Colombia to witness the vote, and it was inspiring to see the democratic process in action. Based on my conversations with Colombians on both sides of the referendum, I came away more impressed than ever with their resilience and capacity for forgiveness. “As a combat veteran, I know firsthand that the emotional wounds of war heal slowly.
