Steve Russell (OK-5) was proud to vote for the Fiscal Year 2018 National Defense Authorization Act (H.R. 2810) as it passed the House by a margin of 356 to 70. The FY18 NDAA authorizes a $26 billion increase above the Trump Administration’s requests to ensure that contingencies and operational repairs and requirements are met. Rep. Russell proposed 11 amendments to the FY18 NDAA earlier this year, all of which were adopted. These amendments will impact a variety of important issues in our military. They will protect our military’s readiness and training areas, facilitate military housing for our servicemen and women, reform how the military acquires equipment, and reform security clearance procedure for certain contractors. Rep. Russell commented on the passage of the FY18 NDAA, stating: “This bill begins to reform, repair, and rebuild our military, reaffirming national security policy in a dangerous and complicated world. It provides a well-deserved pay raise for our troops and continues to push for our men and women in uniform to be fully trained, equipped, and supported.
