| https://sablan.house.gov/troop-store-officially-opens | Troop Store officially opens | 2017-10-23 | 2017 | 2017-10 | Democrat | House | MP | Gregorio Sablan | S001177 | sablan.house.gov | legacy | After eight years of work, the expanded Army and Air Force Exchange Services Troop Store – serving over 4,000 Marianas veterans, active duty and Reserve service members, and their families – officially opens on October 26. The U.S. Army 9th Mission Support Command will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the $2.8 million, 5,000-square-foot facility, which features more shelf space, more merchandise, a snack station, and other amenities for our service community. Improving the Troop Store has been my goal since my first term in Congress. To make it possible, I included a feasibility study in the 2011 National Defense Authorization Act; and construction completion was expected in 2013. But the need to clear the site of unexploded ordnance caused years of delay. The expanded store, which had a soft opening in August, is in addition to the $7 million Reserve Center revitalization that retrofitted structures with weather-resistant materials and tripled the current training area by adding 3,000 square feet of administration offices, classrooms and maintenance space. Additionally, solar panels, a solar water heater, and energy-efficient lighting at the Center support the Army’s energy net zero initiative. Thanks to all who made these projects a success. | 1 | 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z | 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z |
