Grant funding will help the Baltimore-based nonprofit enhance health conditions and energy efficiency in homes around the country. Funding for GHHI comes from CNCS’s Social Innovation Fund, a program that brings together public- and private-sector resources to create economic opportunity, strengthen youth development and boost health outcomes in communities across the country. “Every child in every family should have the opportunity to grow up in a safe and healthy home,” said Congressman Sarbanes. “By continuing to make investments in community-based nonprofits – like the one that CNCS is making in GHHI – we can continue improving health and life outcomes for residents in our most vulnerable and underserved communities.” Congressman Sarbanes has been a steadfast and longstanding advocate for CNCS. During this year’s appropriations process, he joined a letter to the Chairman and Ranking Member of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, HHS, Education & Related Agencies, encouraging the committee to fund CNCS at the level recommended by the national service community.
