The tax credits come from the CDFI Fund’s New Markets Tax Credit (NMTC) awards, which will provide 120 organizations around the country with a total of $7 billion in tax credits to invest in community projects that improve public facilities, good and services – and create more jobs. This year’s NMTC award is the single largest investment since the program’s inception in 2001. “This program helps stimulate local distressed communities,” said Congressman Sarbanes. “By making these kinds of investments, we’re not only creating more job opportunities and improving goods and services.
