Republican Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) released the following statement after Democrats unveiled two articles of impeachment against President Trump: Washington Democrats have wanted to impeach President Trump since before he even took office. Despite years of witch hunts and investigations, Democrats have not produced a single piece of evidence that President Trump engaged in bribery, extortion, or any other high crimes or misdemeanors. And yet, they just unveiled two articles to impeach the president. Speaker Pelosi is bowing to the demands of the most radical elements of her base who want to reverse the results of the 2016 election, and deny the American people the right to determine who is president next year at the ballot box. What is just as disappointing as this abuse of power by Speaker Pelosi, is the long list of important things that are not getting done for hard-working families by this Congress, like legislation to lower drug prices, secure our border, or provide our men and women in uniform the tools they need to safely train and defend our nation.
