Hillary Scholten (MI-03) voted in favor of the bipartisan National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), which will raise pay for servicemembers by 5.2% and fund America’s national security priorities. Specifically, the FY2024 NDAA: Supports the 5.2% pay raise proposed in the President’s budget request; Expands eligibility for the Basic Needs Allowance (program that provides funds for food, housing, etc. for lowest paid; Makes significant investments in military family housing, child development centers, and replacing failing unaccompanied housing (barracks); Improves family leave eligibility for federal employees; Invests a record $150 million for HBCUs; Provides $650 million worth of investments in energy resilience and energy conservation projects. “I’m thrilled that the House came together in a bipartisan way to fund our national security priorities and give our troops a much deserved 5.2% pay raise, which is the least we can do for these heroes who work day in and day out to protect our country.
