"I am pleased to see NIAID taking the next steps towards such a prominent problem we face here in Arizona, by funding $6 million in Fiscal Year 2022 to these research teams needed for information and future cures for Valley Fever,said Congressman Schweikert. Too many individuals are infected by this terrible disease, and face life-long health problems. By funding this program we will take the next step in helping our brothers and sisters whose lives have been forever changed by Valley Fever." Background: Recently, Congressmen David Schweikert (AZ-06) and Kevin McCarthy (CA-23), led a letter to National Institutes of Health (NIH) Director Dr. Francis Collins, and National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) Director Dr. Anthony Fauci, in support of proposed efforts to better understand Coccidioidomycosis.
