He joined many of his Congressional colleagues and other known public figures. The battle for net neutrality continues in the courts where many states have already filed law suits against the ruling. Watch his full remarks below: Congressman Serrano and Colleagues Meet with Puerto Rican Governor Ricardo Rossell and Mayors Last week Congressman Serrano, Leader Pelosi, Congressman Gutirrez, and Congresswoman Velzquez met with Puerto Rican Governor Ricardo Rossell and many mayors from Puerto Rico to discuss the recovery efforts as well as the financial needs of the island. Many Americans on the island are still without electricity and the funding needed to address infrastructure recovery is not arriving quick enough. In the Bronx Congressman Serrano Leads Letter with Bronx Colleagues Urging Mayor de Blasio to Open LGBTQ Community Center in the Bronx Congressman Serrano, Engel, Crowley, and Espaillat sent a letter last Friday to Mayor Bill de Blasio urging him to prioritize addressing LGBTQ community needs in his upcoming term as Mayor. The letter emphasized the need to open an LGBTQ community center in the Bronx the only borough that does not have one. They also urged Mayor de Blasio to address the issues of homelessness and other housing needs that affect the LGBTQ community and those who are gender non-conforming (TGNC), particularly teenagers; as well as the rise in violence and other human rights violations against LGBTQ people.[T]he Bronx remains without an LGBTQ Community Center, and continues to be the sole borough in New York City without one. As you may know, community centers play a vital role in enriching the lives of residents and the neighborhoods they call home. Whether providing easy access to quality, safe programs and services or directing families to the appropriate channels to receive the much-needed assistance they are seeking, community centers are a crucial safety net for many. We strongly believe that no one should be forced to travel outside of their neighborhood in order to obtain essential care readily accessible in neighboring communities.
