Global Down Syndrome Foundation This week I was honored to attend an event hosted bytheGlobal Down Syndrome Foundation to celebratethetremendous progresstheDown syndrome community has made inthepast few years. Global Down Syndrome Foundation has played a huge role in improvingthelives of people with Down syndrome through groundbreaking research and I remain committed to working with them to ensure folks liketheFoundation continue to receive proper funding to aid in helpingtheDown syndrome community. Congressman Sessions with Michelle Sie Witten, Kyra Phillips, and John Roberts TheBoard oftheCoalition of Airline Pilots Association Earlier this week I met withTheBoard oftheCoalition of Airline Pilots Association to discuss legislation that would work to end foreign airlines flag of convenience practice. Specifically, H.R. 2150 would protect airlines from foreign air carries that seek to thwartthefree market, fair competition, and respectable labor standards. As Congress continues to consider this legislation and possible actions to help U.S. carriers, I look forward to continuing to receive feedback and information on these important transportation and legislative issues. Texas Central On Wednesday, I met with newly appointed Chairman oftheBoard for Texas Central Drayton McLane Jr. to receive an update on work moving forward on this important transportation project. Specifically, we discussed ongoing work attheDepartment of Transportation to provide for an efficient final draft environmental impact study that would allow Texas Central to begin to break ground. As Texas continues to grow, I am proud to support Texas Central and see this critical, privately funded, transportation project take shape undertheleadership of native Texans. Congressman Sessions with representatives from Texas Central Korean Embassy On Tuesday, I met withthenew Ambassador fromtheRepublic of Korea, AmbassadorCho Yoon-je, to discussthecritical alliance shared bytheUnited States and South Korea. As one of our closest friends, and an important defense and economic partner, I was proud to welcome our new Ambassador from South Korea and share a message of friendship and strength. I also hope thattheSenate gets to work and quickly confirms our new Ambassador to South Korea, Victor Cha. Ultimately,theUnited States needs South Korea to be successful and I will continue to strongly support this important alliance.
