Sewell (D-AL) is currently accepting 2020 Military Service Academy nomination applications. The official 2020 nominating process for Military Service Academies is open! Each year I have the great privilege of nominating a select number of applicants to four of the five military service academies. One of my most satisfying duties as a Member of Congress is nominating young people from my district to these historic institutions, stated Rep. Sewell. To be considered for an appointment to a military service academy, an applicant must meet the eligibility requirements established by law, be legally domiciled within the boundaries of Alabama's 7th Congressional District. Students MUST complete a 2020 Nomination application, which can be found here or on Rep. Sewell's website at Sewell.house.gov. Submissions must be received by the Birmingham office by U.S. mail postmarked no later than Friday, November 6, 2020; Office of Congresswoman Terri A. Students and parents can register via this zoom link for the Military Service Academy Preview Day. Nominating interviews for students will be conducted on Saturday, November 21, 2020 via Zoom. Background on Service Academies There are five Service Academies: The United States Air Force (USAFA), Naval (USNA), Army at West Point (USMA), Merchant Marine (USMMA), and Coast Guard (USCGA) Academies.
