Sewell Issues Statement in Observance of the Anniversary of 9/11 2015-09-11 2015 2015-09 Democrat House AL Terri Sewell S001185 sewell.house.gov     legacy Today, Congresswoman Terri Sewell (D-AL) released the following statement in observance of the 14th anniversary of September 11, 2001: On this day 14 years ago, our nation was forever changed by the terrorist attacks that occurred on September 11. Today, we honor those who lost their lives and pay homage to the courageous first responders whose bravery helped to save the lives of so many affected by this tragedy. I hope we will remember these American heroes as the James Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Act is set to expire. If Congress does not act this could jeopardize the medical monitoring, care, and compensation program responders and survivors across the country. We must work to preserve this legislation and give them the resources they need to continue to heal. They deserve nothing less. As a member of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, I understand the fight against terrorism is one that we must always take seriously as a country. However, this tragedy also taught us the importance of working together. We share a common humanity, and must be vigilant in our collective efforts to protect it. This is critical to protecting our beloved country and ensuring that these ideals are passed on to future generations. 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
