The funding secured through the Congresswoman’s Community Project Funding (CPF) request signed into law in March 2024, and will support the construction of sewer and water infrastructure improvements in Lakewood. Congresswoman Brown met with Mayor Meghan F. George; Director of Public Works Chris Gordon; Police Chief Kevin Fischer; and City Engineer Mark Papke Thursday to celebrate the funding and discuss issues facing Lakewood. “I’m thrilled to see this vital investment in Lakewood’s water infrastructure move forward,” said Congresswoman Brown. “Northeast Ohio depends on clean water for the health of our families, the safety of our environment, and the strength of our economy. This project is a significant step toward ensuring that Lakewood remains a community that values sustainability and resilience, and I am proud to have been able to secure this funding.” Congresswoman Brown requested the funding in March 2023, and advocated to ensure the project received the support it needed to move forward. The City of Lakewood is now able to advance its storm and wastewater pollution prevention measures, protecting local water sources from contamination.
