At a Coffee with a Cop' event, Sinema joined officers with the Tempe Police Department and community members to discuss keeping Arizona families safe in their communities. That's why we're working across the aisle to strengthen community policing programs, provide more mental health resources for officers, and ensure Arizona police department have the resources they need to combat the opioid epidemic. It was great to have Congresswoman Sinema join us for Coffee with a Cop today, meeting with officers and residents. It's clear she shares our commitment to working directly with the Tempe community to keep our neighborhoods safe. We talked about our work to build trust with the folks we serve and we heard from the Congresswoman about the important work she's doing to support community policing, provide law enforcement with resources to fight violence against women, and protect officers in the line of duty. Sinema gets results that help Arizona law enforcement keep our communities safe. Recently, she worked across the aisle to help give law enforcement the tools they need by: Pushing for full reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act, which provides resources to local, state, and tribal law enforcement to prevent sexual assaults, protect victims, and support families; Protecting officers in the line of duty by working to increase penalties for violently targeting police officers; Cracking down on sex trafficking by toughening penalties on those who facilitate trafficking and empowering financial institutions to cut off the money that fuels these illicit operations; Improving mental health and peer support resources for Arizona officers by cosponsoring and helping pass the Law Enforcement Mental Health and Wellness Act into law; and Enhancing Arizona law enforcement initiatives to fight the opioid epidemic by pushing for increased resources for the Byrne JAG program. ### 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
