Lloyd Smucker's (PA-16) amendment that would help higher education institutions combat the opioid epidemic on their campuses. Rep. Smucker's amendment will require the U.S. Secretary of Education to work with the U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS) and other outside experts to identify successful addiction recovery programs on college campuses. The Secretary of Education will also share best practices with colleges and universities to increase the number and capacity of high-quality programs to help prevent and combat addiction, as well as help students recover from addiction. "Now more than ever, we must prioritize the fight against rampant drug and opioid abuse. It is a nationwide epidemic that none of us can ignore, and it requires our action," said Rep. Smucker.
