Darren Soto (FL-09) announced more than $1.5 million in federal funding to defray costs to Osceola County to restore damage sustained in Hurricane Irma. The funding is being granted under FEMA's Public Assistance Program and will be used to reimburse the county for expenses made to repair the administration building, parking structure and courthouse building. "Two years after Hurricane Irma made landfall, Central Florida is still recovering from long-term damages," said Rep. Soto. "With this funding, official sites will be able to function at their best capacity by first and foremost ensuring safety for its visitors and residents. This is a major step forward in our effort to restore our community!" In response to the damage, the county utilized Force Account Labor (FAL), Force Account Equipment (FAE), purchased materials, and contracts to repair / replace roof systems, ceiling tiles, drywall, carpet, lighting, signs, books and baseboards within the county owned and maintained buildings. All repairs will be made utilizing the same type of materials that were damaged. Funding for this Public Assistance (PA) project is authorized under Sections 403 of the Robert T. Stafford Act for Florida to cover Hurricane Irma-related expenses, reimbursing eligible applicants for the cost of debris removal; life-saving emergency protective measures; and the repair, replacement or restoration of disaster-damaged facilities like buildings, roads and utilities. ### | 1 | 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z | 2026-06-27T23:45:33Z |
